The inaugural conference of the International Qajar Studies Association (IQSA) was held May 17-19, 2001, at the University of Leiden, Holland. The conference was jointly organized by the following organizations: Department of Languages and Cultures of the Islamic Middle East, Leiden University; International Qajar Studies Association (IQSA); Research School of Asian, African, and Amerindian Studies, Leiden University; The Genootschap Nederland-Iran.
